Using UX Best Practices to Improve Cost Estimators: A Webinar

Michelle Ammirati by on Oct 31, 2017

Corporate Insight will offer Using UX Best Practices to Improve Cost Estimators, a free webinar on best practices for cost estimator tools. Based on user tests of tools provided by leading health insurers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare, CI identified member perceptions of these tools, what members value most in them, and best practices in design and functionality. CI’s healthcare and usability experts will present key findings from their recent study, including:

  • Insurers’ and members’ different approaches to cost estimator tools
    • Insurers design to enable members to find the cheapest procedure while member rationale varies, from wanting to estimate an expensive procedure’s cost to seeing the impact of a procedure on their deductible
  • The dual purpose of these tools for participants
    • Members value being able to receive an estimate in addition to being able to find a provider, though these functionalities are not always centralized
  • The varying definitions of cost for both the insurer and the member
    • Insurers define costs with many different labels while members’ understandings of cost is influenced by the terminology employed by their plan type

To learn more about these insights and others, including design preferences and desirable attributes associated with cost estimators, don’t miss this event on November 14 at 1 p.m. ET.
